2nd Annual National LX Jiu-Jitsu Association Gathering with Special Guest Royler Gracie is Huge Success! Around 100 people were present at the 2nd Annual National LX Jiu-Jitsu Association Gathering which was held November 4th, 2007 in Houston, Texas at the LX Jiu-Jitsu headquarters. Students from all of the LX Jiu-Jitsu Association schools in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana participated in the opening cerymony and the belt ans stripe promotions. Royler Gracie came straight from Brazil to be a special guest at the gathering and to teach seminars and private classes for the first time in Texas. Royler's classes were well received by the students and his words at the gathering about Leo and the LX Jiu-Jitsu Association were inspiring. The LX Jiu-Jitsu Association has grown tremendously in 2007. BJJ is growing in popularity in the United States and Texas. Leonardo Xavier, the head instructor and the president of the LX Jiu-Jitsu Association is greatfull to everyone in the BJJ community who is making a positive contribution. Leo, in behalf of the LX Jiu-Jitsu, presented awards to Royler Gracie and his father Helio Gracie in recognition of their longlife commitment to Jiu-Jitsu. Other students were also awarded in recognition of their outstanding contributions Jiu-Jitsu and the LX family. "I'm happy for welcoming one of my instructors, mentors and friends for the first time in Texas. It was a big goal to all Texas BJJ community to have a legend like Royler teaching in Texas for the first time. I would like to thank everyone that helped and supported this special event. Instructional DVD Release in Sugar Land a Great Success! With over 50 Jiu-Jitsu practioners of diferent ages and levels, Leonardo Xavier's Instructional DVD release in Sugar Land, Texas was a great celebration. It was a joyous event for the LX Jiu-Jitsu family with all the kids, adults and families coming together to celebrate. Leo's "Introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu" Instructional DVD to be released soon! At the end of July, Leonardo Xavier will be releasing the highly awaited "Introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu" Instructional DVD. Leo is known for his phenomenal basics and in this DVD he reveals the secrets on how to develop a masterful and solid ground game. The DVD focuses on providing a complete basic ground game including take-downs, submissions, escapes and variations from the guard, mount, side-control, and back positions. On May 6th, long time student Dr. John Labis turned 40 years old. To celebrate his 40th birthday, Dr. John chose to do something really special and climb Eldorado Peak in the Cascades Mountains, nearly 9000 feet high. To make his dream come true, John trained for 4 months to prepare himself to carry 70 pounds of equipment while facing the challenges of the climb. But the story continues. To our surprise, Dr. John made a small flag with the LX Jiu-Jitsu Association logo and carried it with him during the 2 day jorney to the summit. Dr. John wanted to celebrate his birthday by making a mark in his life and was generous enough to share this achievement with all of us. After reaching the summit, he proudly displayed the small flag to show his love for LX Jiu-Jitsu. Some people pass through our lives and leave messages that inspire us to achieve our goals and dreams. Dr. John is certainly one of those people. The adult attendance of the successful Rolker Gracie seminar LX Jiu-Jitsu Sugarland, TX kids program is huge success! Recently started, the Little Wizards program is already a big success at the LX Jiu-Jitsu School of Sugarland, TX. The "Little Wizards" program focuses on teaching basic self defense techniques and basic Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques and concepts. The classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 5:45pm. This program is designed to improve fitness levels, coordination and concentration as well as instill honor, self discipline and respect into each student. Leo is Special Guest at Prestigious Event in NY! Leonardo Xavier will be a Special Guest Instructor at the ZDK 25th Anniversary Super Summer Seminars Camp. It is an important year for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the United States and the LX Jiu-Jitsu Association is already showing its' force by bringing WORLD CLASS BLACK BELTS from Brazil to train at its' World Headquarters! Vinicius "Vini" Aieta is a 3rd degree black belt under the legendary Royler Gracie and owner and instructor of the traditional Gracie Tijuca Academy. He is also a Gracie Humaita instructor and first assistant to Royler Gracie. Vini is Royler Gracie MMA trainer and trainer of the lightweight MMA Brazilian National Champion Fabricio Morango and many World Champions including Leticia Ribeiro and Vinicius Magalhaes. For the first time ever, since the 1st World Tournament in 1996, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation is bringing the World Tournament to the United States. The LX Jiu-Jitsu association is very excited about competing in this prestigious tournament. This summer the LX Jiu-Jitsu school of Houston will host world class training for all interested Texas competitors. Along with the LX Team, we will have numerous world class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters and instructors coming from Brazil to train for the World Tournament. Stay tuned for more details!
